This subjective narcissism – I look at my reflection (representation) in the mirror – allows me to be social (functioning in a social space), because this reflection is already a reaction to others. However, since we normally do not notice our own shadow in front of an ordinary mirror, we do not notice our influence on the life (in the broadest sense of the word) of other people. This observation can only be made conscious, purposeful, rational and referring to the lives of others who are already dependent on us.
